Application of TT-MPH Motorized Pencil Hardness Tester
It is commonly applied in industries such as paints and coatings, plastics, electronics, automotive, furniture, and metal finishing to ensure product durability and quality.
Features of TT-MPH Motorized Pencil Hardness Tester
- Hardness of a coating film is tested by scratching its surface with graded hardness pencils.
- Pencil is fixed at a 45° angle so that its lead tip contacts the surface of the coating film, with an appropriate load applied.
- Sample platform moves at a constant speed (as per JIS standard, 0.5 mm/sec), allowing the coating surface to pass under the pencil tip.
- Hardest pencil that does not cause damage (scratch) to the coating film is regarded as the coating film hardness.
